Properties: Aguaymanto is a super food, which serves as an energy source for children, students and athletes as it has vitamin A, vitamin B and C complex. It contains a high sample of protein and phosphorus, important for better nutrition and functioning of human organs. The fruit of this wild plant is round, small and yellow in color. This fruit is known by different names in the American continent. It is called Topotopo in Quechua, Uchuba in Aymara, motojobobo bagado or capulí in Bolivia, uvilla or guchuba in Colombia, while, in Venezuela, it is called uvilla and in Mexico, cherry of Peru. It should be noted that its name in English is Golden Berry, cape gooseberry, peruvian groundcherry and peruvian cherry; in India it is physalis and poha in Hawaii. | |
Main functionality: It can strengthen the immune system because it contains antioxidants, vitamins A and C, phosphorus and potassium. Antioxidants help slow down cellular aging and improve the performance of cardiovascular functions. There are studies that confer cholesterol-lowering properties to aguaymanto in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
